Founded in 2009, the UNSW Consulting Club (UCC) is UNSW Business School’s official representative for international case competitions. UCC equips students with the skills to solve complex business problems through weekly training, intensive squad programs and sponsor-led workshops. Our teams have competed globally across Europe, Asia and North America, consistently achieving strong results on the international stage. In addition to competing in international case competitions, we also host a number of domestic case competitions.

The largest case competition in the Southern Hemisphere, UCC x Oliver Wyman Trans-Tasman Case Competition, is back for its 8th year! Students from universities across Australia and New Zealand are invited to put their strategic thinking, consulting and presentation skills to the test in a national competition judged by leading executives from Oliver Wyman and the case company. Take the opportunity to develop your analytical, problem-solving and teamwork skills while tackling a real-world business challenge alongside your teammates. The competition is open to ALL university students from ALL disciplines. You don't need prior case competition or consulting experience to participate. Whether you're a case competition veteran or stepping into the world of consulting for the first time we strongly encourage everyone to give it a go! This competition is made possible by Oliver Wyman, whose continued support of student development gives participants the opportunity to present their ideas to experienced industry professionals and senior executives. They will be required to develop a strategy and demonstrate their findings in a slide deck that must be submitted; further details and requirements will be provided with the case brief. The top teams from each university will then advance to the National Heats round. Here's your chance to put your strategic thinking to the test, gain firsthand exposure to real-world retail operations, and present your recommendations directly to the JD Sports team. 🛍️ Powered by JD Sports JD Sports is one of the world's leading sports fashion retailers, operating thousands of stores across Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, and beyond. Known for bringing together the biggest names in sport and street culture under one roof, JD Sports is at the forefront of the global athleisure and retail industry. Now, they want YOU to help shape their business. 💼🔥 🗂️ COMPETITION STRUCTURE Teams of 3-4 will have 10 days to analyse and solve a real business problem set by JD Sports, developing a practical, evidence-based strategy. As part of the competition, each team will conduct an in-person visit to a JD Sports branch, gaining firsthand exposure to retail operations to inform their recommendations. Teams will deliver a 10-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A. UCC is excited to bring back the Macquarie Capital Boardroom pitch – one of Australia’s premier investment banking competitions. This is your opportunity to step into the role of an investment banker and work on a real M&A transaction, developing a defensible recommendation supported by a pitch deck and financial model. Finalists will present in a 20-minute boardroom-style format at Macquarie Capital’s office, with winners fast-tracked to the interview stage of Macquarie Capital’s 2026/27 Summer Internship Program. In teams of 3-4, you’ll gain first-hand exposure to the technical, strategic, and commercial thinking required in investment banking.
